Sam Veith is a Risk Management Consultant for Horton’s Construction Practice within its Risk Advisory Solutions Division. In this role, Sam is responsible for providing Horton clients with comprehensive, cost-effective and innovative solutions to meet their most complex, risk-related challenges and opportunities.

Before Horton, Sam worked at R&R Insurance, spending two-and-a-half years as an Insurance Consultant focused on construction risk management, safety, workers’ compensation modification management and insurance programs for emerging contractors. Prior to R&R, he earned his “boots on the ground” experience in the heavy equipment sales and rental industry working with many contractors on some of the biggest job sites around Milwaukee, WI including the 2017 US Open at Erin Hills, The Corners of Brookfield, Pabst Building 25 Conversion to The Malt House Apartments and the Northwestern Mutual Tower.

Sam started his career in commercial construction selling bidding and estimating software for GradeBeam.com / Textura which was eventually acquired by Oracle. However, his first experience in construction stems back from his childhood when helping his dad, a Chicago firefighter and electrician, pull wire on many side jobs. His overall commercial construction knowledge from pre-construction through hands-on experience in the field will be a great asset to The Horton Group’s Construction Practice Group.

Giving back is incredibly important to Sam as he is the founder of Fishing for Good Foundation. As a risk advisor, his community-first mindset also applies to his clients, to serve their needs first, to be knowledgeable, personable, and professional.

Sam views the insurance industry as “complex, only getting tougher, and a separator. It will separate the evolving and flexible brokers from the ones who are complacent and cannot keep up with the industry’s rapid changes.”

He earns his client’s trust by differentiating himself in everything he does, starting with a driven work ethic.

Looking back on his experience thus far, his favorite memory working in the insurance industry is coming to Horton. He’s passionate about joining such a focused construction practice and mission ahead.

In 2007, Sam attended Indiana University in Bloomington, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism/Advertising and Business Marketing. He was highly involved in the school, where he participated in various clubs such as IU Hockey Team, IU Bass Fishing, and Marketing. Sam is proud to be the founder of Fishing for Good Foundation, a 501©(3) Public Charity giving back to veterans, active military, or first responders by taking them out with professional fishing guides in gratitude for their dedicated services.
