Paul Johnson is a Vice President & Practice Leader for The Horton Group in Illinois. In this role, Paul drives overall strategic direction, sales, and organizational leadership, focusing on organic growth and new business development. Additionally, he continues providing Horton clients with comprehensive, cost-effective and innovative solutions to meet their most complex, risk-related challenges.

One of the reasons Paul Johnson believes he is able to help clients save money is because Horton allows him to bring so many tools to the table.

“The support and resources of Horton has made the difference for me,” Paul said. “Whether it is claims advocacy, surety, legal assistance or Horton Safety Consultants, the Horton difference is clear.”

Paul came to Horton’s Risk Advisory Solutions division in Chicago with more than 15 years of experience in the insurance industry. New Business Development is one of his responsibilities; a process he feels is unique to Horton and is also a big factor in why he landed there.

As Director of Sales, he forges ahead in leading younger sales personnel in their development at the agency.

“We have a huge support team here,” Paul said.

“I’m here to lead by example – showing good work habits, treating all people with respect, and bringing energy to the job. If you do this and hold people accountable for their actions they will fall in line.”

Paul has earned his Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and Certified Workers Compensation Advisor (CWCA) designations. Paul specializes in risk management for mid-market businesses with an emphasis in the Food industry and  Private Equity. His strengths include serving his clients as an advisor – much more than a broker responsible for marketing a case to appropriate insurance carriers. He credits the client service team behind him for his ability to quickly deliver an array of resources.

Paul grew up in Lawrence, Kansas and attended Benedictine College. He resides in Winnetka with his wife and five children. Paul enjoys playing basketball, tennis and golf. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Springboard Foundation, which supports after-school programs for underprivileged children.
