Chris Knox is Vice President, Select at The Horton Group. He is responsible for the overall strategy, growth and profitability of the division’s property/casualty and benefits offerings.

Chris leads the entire service and sales operation within Select to execute strategies that will help achieve growth, profitability, and client satisfaction goals while ultimately helping small businesses achieve a higher level of performance.

Chris brings over 20 years of insurance experience to his Horton clients. Before joining Horton in 2016, Chris served as a Sales Manager and Sales Representative at The Hartford in the territories of Arizona, Nevada, Illinois, and Wisconsin.

“Working as a producer for many years gave me an intimate understanding of the day-to-day challenges of sales,” Chris said. “I try to take some of the best ideas that I have seen throughout the years and incorporate them in our current strategies.”

Chris sees this as a time of extraordinary change for the insurance industry, especially in the area of small business.

“Technology continues to be the hot button, with enormous amounts of capital being invested in this arena, specifically with disruptors,” said Chris. “With an aging workforce and lack of young talent, there are extraordinary opportunities for firms willing to invest in themselves.”

Chris views specialization as a key component of client advocacy and successful development of new producers.

“A team that is specialized provides a greater level of client advocacy by helping clients with the insurable and uninsurable risks associated with their businesses,” said Chris.

Chris attended Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois where he received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History Education. He grew up in Coal Valley, Illinois and currently resides in Chicago. When he needs a break from the city life, he loves to go camping with his four children. Chris is also passionate about history, science and documentaries.
