Sara Vander Weide

Sara Vander Weide is an Account Manager with Horton’s Risk Advisory Services, where she excels in executing program strategies and designing innovative risk transfer programs or alternative plan designs.

Sara’s responsibilities are extensive and include developing strong client relationships, collecting renewal information, coordinating Horton’s value-added services, and ensuring accurate processing of audit endorsements. She performs detailed audit reviews, manages updates to agency management systems, acts as a backup for other Client Managers, mentors team members and oversees compliance with state regulations for surplus lines and other special procedures.

With 12 years of experience in the insurance industry, Sara began her career at a State Farm office in personal lines, eventually transitioning to Commercial Lines through the encouragement of different agency principals.

Sara finds the most rewarding aspect of her job is assisting clients during claims, offering support and guidance in challenging times.

“My favorite part of the job is getting to know my clients on a personal level,” she says. “I am dedicated to making the insurance process understandable and beneficial for my clients, continually working to overcome the industry’s challenges and misconceptions.”

Sara has a Bachelor of Science from Grand Valley State University, where she studied Business Management. A native of Muskegon, Michigan, Sara is married and enjoys life with her two stepchildren and two spoiled dogs.
